Y: the last man Series

Yorick Brown is the last man on earth after a plague that killed anyone with a Y chromosome. But for some reason the plague spared both Yorick and his male monkey Ampersand. He sets out on a journey to find his fiancĂ© Beth, who was in Australia at the time the plague hit. What follows is a journey between Yorick, agent 355 and Allison Mann a doctor who believes she started the plague. They travel the country trying to find Mann’s other lab in an attempt to find a cure to keep men alive amongst the plague while also cloning men so that the human race doesn’t cease to exist.
Throughout the series Yorick and his crew run into many villains, but the one that follows them throughout the story is an Israeli lieutenant-general named Alter. Alter believes she needs to take Yorick back to Israel so that they have the one commodity everyone will start to want: babies. Many others are after Yorick as well, the Daughters of Amazon for example include Yorick's sister Hero for a time. These woman believe men were killed off by God and they must now destroy anything still contributing to male culture.
Each individual character has their own story arc, with certain issues following someone other that Yorick. A group of traveling performers act as the lead characters for a time even. Overall the story is well fleshed out and really creates a world that is believable.
The series overall was well done and interesting. Although it felt like any other apocalypse story, it could certainly hold it's own. The characters were relatable and interesting. Yorick himself was someone I would like to know personally, he seemed real and down to earth. With struggles any person would have he had a good redemption arc. Although I often find apocalypse stories draining this was one was something I really enjoyed and couldn’t stop reading. I highly suggest it and can’t wait to see what the FX series brings.
