April has lived in Willow Creek for most of her life raising her daughter Caitlin. She has kept to herself one day knowing she will move out of town when Caitlin goes off to college. But with this potential move she needs to make some changes to her house. Paint needs to be redone, carpets replaced, all so the house is sellable to the current market. She asks her friends Mitch for help with the house in exchange for a little fake dating scheme he has dreamed up. He wants his family to think he's serious, and a mature put together girl like April will help his family to see him how he wants to be seen. But their fake relationship is long from over, and as the Ren Faire comes to Willow Creek for the summer the two realize their might be more to their relationship. It feels less fake as time goes on but April is still leaving in the fall, and she thinks her and Mitch aren't meant to be .
Ugh my heart is so full from this book. Although slightly weaker than the others in the series this book was so well written and a perfect addition to the world of Willow Creek. I personally hate a fake dating trope, they always feel too forced and don't leave me with a satisfied happy ending. This one was better than most but still left me with that same unresolved ending feeling. I wanted this to be just as amazing as the first two but it felt like a side story or a spin off in comparison to the two very strong leads of the previous books. I will definitely be continuing to read anything by DeLuca and hope for more books in Willow Creek, although I couldn't imagine who they would be about considering the main cast of characters have all been partnered up.
