4 out of 5 Stars
Ami and her friends Rip and Buzz are in a punk band called Home Sick Pilots. They are in high school and Ami and Rip are in foster care. The three are close friends who want to throw a show of their own. Ami suggests the Old James house, a notorious haunted house in town. After a broken up punk show Ami doesn't want to go back to her foster home and wanders into the Old James house where she goes missing.
But the house still has Ami, it's using her to collect the various ghosts that the house has lost. But someone else is trying to collect the ghosts too, a put together organization trying to control those ghosts. Ami has no idea what's going on in the outside world but wants to help this broken entity.
Ami is a sweet girl, whose a little rough around the edges. She is partial to helping broken things, which draws her to help the house. Buzz is a loyal friend, whose loyalty might be his downfall in the future. Rip seems like a loyal friend, but when he is slightly betrayed he ends up turning against his friends. Their dynamic post storyline will hopefully be explored in the future, and hopefully without any romance between Buzz and Ami.
This was a fantastic graphic novel. The art was beautiful, it really put you in the 90s mindset. The only thing I even found slightly off about it was the slightly disjointed timeline, but I got used to it after a while. Although I am excited to see where it goes in the future although I think the basis of the story might already be done.
