In a seemingly post apocalyptic world Morgan works at her boring (which she likes) job while hunting Imps on the side for her friend Annie's drug business. When an exciting new gig job app called Huntr is being tested on the market Morgan is forced into trying it out because she is a brush baby. Someone who grew up outside of the protective bubbles that keep the horrors of the world out of peoples minds. Aside from the occasionally creature that sneaks in. This new "job" leads her to new friends and reconnections with old ones. Mitch a once fling of Annie's who is attacked in Morgan and Annie's apartment and develops super powers from an Imp bite teams up with Morgan. Morgan also bumps into Van, her ex boyfriend and fellow brush baby. The group must live life while trying to survive and get enough stars to get another gig.
I loved this! I have never listened to Bubble or really familiarized myself with Morris' work aside from my growing fear/love of Cotton Candy Randy. But if this is how creative he is I want of his work in my life and really hope he continues with comics (especially this one). I loved all the characters equally, they were well rounded and felt like people I actually knew. I love the nods to current pop culture and societal norms like the crazy book club moms and the douchey guys with beards who will only drink IPA. It is slightly NSFW but nothing too terrible only the occasional instance which reminds you it is an adult graphic novel.
