On her 15th birthday Lupe discovers she has super powers. Her Grandmother also had super powers before her and helps to train her. It seems she got her powers for a reason, but it takes a while for this to become clear. She finally discovers one of her classmates has super powers as well. But seems to be using them for evil. Lupe tries to balance life as Q as well as her life with her family and potential new boyfriend.
It was ok. I normally enjoy middle grade novels but this one felt way too simplified. It was interesting but there were things that weren't explained and just left out. Lupe is never told her powers only last a year but already knows they do? Also the book has a warped sense of time. Time is clearly passing but they don't really give you any way to know until the end when she says it's been nine months and then again when she goes oh this is my last day. A sick grandmother was also just thrown in the mix for no reason. The actual powers didn't even really make sense, they aren't just one power it's multiple but there's no real reason why some people get them. Her parents didn't know about them which makes me think that it didn't happen to her mother or her fathers sisters. Overall it was cute but full of holes that would have helped to flesh out the story.
