Holly was turned into a vampire in 1987, with her 80s crimped hair and forever-sixteen-year-old life she works a midnight shift at Taco Bell and wishes for something different. Dragged back to her hometown by her once eternal love Elton she lives in a run down motel. But eventually she meets Elton's other eternal loves, Rose and Ida. Both turned before Holly was even born and also tethered to Elton forced to follow after him. But when the girls find out that Elton has his sights set on turning another girl the three decide its time to put an end to Elton. Holly meets Elton's next conquest Parker and has an intense attraction to her right away. She will now do whatever she can to make sure that Parker doesn't turn into a vampire and gets to live her best life.
Full of dark humor and queer themes this was well written and a great read. Holly is relatable even though she's technically right out of the 80s. Rose and Ida are as well even though they are even older. I didn't have many complaints about this book and actually appreciated the lack of references to the time periods that the girls were from. Sometimes too many references can be overwhelming and take away from the story. My only complaint was the pacing of the story, at times it felt like it was moving well and then in the middle it started to drag and made me take a break from it. Overall a great read I would highly recommend to anyone.
