Found covered in blood that wasn't hers Marie Catherine Hale is at first mistake for a survivor. But this 15 year old is later considered a suspect in a string of murder called the Dracula Murders happening across the country in the 1950's. Michael Jenson is the son of the sheriff in a small-town where the most recent killings occurred. Marie trusts Michael to listen to her story and believe her. This 17 year old is tasked with recording the accounts of all the murders of Marie, how did a young girl end up involved in all these killings and what really happened when all these people were killed.
This was not what I expected at all. And the ending was not very good and genuinely made me change my mind about the book as a whole. The random left turn into the supernatural (spoilers ahead) making the tale of a vampire more credible made what I assumed was just a young girl making up a story to cover up the terrible things she did seem like a random supernatural occurrence. Which paired with the fact it was inspired by a true story even less believable. It was a good book (a little too long) but interesting until the ending which left you confused. If it's set up to contain some kind of sequel as some authors do I would not read it, because even a book with sequels still has to have some kind of resolved ending.
