After the sudden death of Jane's father, her and her mother Ruth move from sunny California to a small town in Maine where her ancestral family home is located. The two move into North Manor, a sprawling house that contains all the things from Ruth's past left behind by her parents, it also contains a few secrets. Janes settles into her new home even making friends at school and getting a job at a local bookstore/coffee shop. Everything seems to be going well for her, but her anger and grief start to manifest in strange ways. Suddenly she's sending texts she doesn't remember and trying to deal with bullying from a girl in school. She starts to struggle as things around the manor get creepier and creepier, it could be her grief from her dead father, mental illness or something else.

This was just fine, it had it's moments where it was truly spooky and you were on edge. But in reality the ending is what ruined the book for me. I'm not going to say it seemed out of character because it wasn't, but it felt like everything in the book was leading up to that moment and it just ended. I would hope it wouldn't have been to create a sequel because there isn't enough for that. The relationships between all the characters were also very shallow, and could have been developed much better. With a little work and a better ending this could have been so good, but it just came up short.
